Vesak at the Vihara this Saturday May 18th

Vesak at the Vihara
Dear Devotees and Friends,This Saturday we plan to celebrate Buddhism's most holy and inspiring holiday, the full moon of May, called Vesak. Join our all-day celebration offering early morning, mid-morning and afternoon observances. And meet Ayya Saccika visiting from Germany.

Program is drop-in, welcome to arrive any time - but you don't want to miss any of this! Morning is in-person only; at 2pm we add Zoom. See schedule below. Lunch dana is potluck.

We remember with joy the May full-moon birthday of the prince who would become the Buddha. Also, it was under a full moon of May that the former prince gained full awakening, and 45 years later - beneath another full moon of May - the Buddha passed away into complete Nirvana.

Hence for Buddhists the May full moon is the most powerful holy day full of joy, promise, solemnity and awe.
